  • heights: 4.7, 3.8cm, 1 7/8, 1 1/2 in.
both spherical, on circular spreading fluted feet, the smaller with matrix engraved with intials C.B., the larger with original fitted box

Condition

Larger seal: in excellent condition. The lid of box has become detached; box with signs of ageing. Smaller seal: with tiny chips to the rim, consistent with age and use.

Catalogue Note

Ivan Sergeevich Stebakov was a merchant of 3rd guild from Ekaterinburg. His lapidary atelier was founded in 1849 and he employed 25 craftsmen and approximately 40 homeworkers. In 1861 at the 12th Russian Industrial Exhibition Stebakov was awarded a Lesser Silver medal for his skilful work with rock crystal.
