  • The elaborate frames are inscribed: A gift from His Imperial Majesty to her Excellence Mlle Marguerite de Wildermeth – former governess, Dame of the Imperial and Royal Orders of St. Catherine, of the Portrait etc. ­- bequeathed by her to her niece Madame Hortense des Alleurs born de Wildermeth, 30 November 1838.

Condition

Alexandra Feodorovna: the corners of the sheet are cut. There is a light layer of surface dirt and very minor undulations to the sheet in places. Otherwise in good overall condition. Nicholas I: the sheet has discoloured and there is light yellow foxing throughout. Both held in ornate gold plaster frames behind glass with inscriptions below.
