the removable rectangular top inlaid with tooled black leather on one side and painted on the other, the recessed ebony gaming surface inlaid with natural and tinted ivory to form a backgammon well and flanked by two recessed compartments with removable lids, the frieze painted to imitate marble, raised on tapering legs carved to imitate branches terminating in casters; together with 30 natural and stained ivory gaming pieces, 4 dices, two leather cups and 2 candle holders.

Condition

With scattered age and construction cracks; with the largest cracks to bottom of gaming well due to shrinkage. Removable top with restored breaks/losses to corners. Scattered dents, scuffs and abrasions to ebony. Interior refinished. Ivory inlay with fine hairline cracks and fading. Leather inlay probably later and with scuffs and scratches. Painted decoration with some losses, rubbing and refreshed areas throughout. Underside with some old worm damage. In good condition.
