Description

each square padded backrest within an oak frame inlaid with foliate brass bandings on an ebony ground and surmounted by a pair of bud-form ormolu finials above a square caned seat, the seat rails fitted with gilt-brass bands and raised on ring-turned circular reeded tapering legs with foliate-carved and gilded collars on toupee feet.

Condition
Overall fair condition; the first with a spliced back right leg toward the bottom half of the leg; the brass band to the front rail slightly bent; formerly fitted with casters; the other chair with a patch to the ebony veneer to cresting rail; large chip and loss to front left foot; each with old worm damage to rails and with small chips and losses to later gilding to wood parts; some tarnishing and wear to ormolu mounts.
