Catalogue Note

Trumpet-shaped candlesticks of this specific type are normally only found in Schaffhausen. The present examples would have been made to copy a Schaffhausen set most likely at the time of family division. An almost identical 18th century pair by the Schaffhausen goldsmith Conrad Speissegger  is illustrated in Carl Ulmer, Schaffhauser Goldschmiede Kunst, 1997, p.85, no. 94
