  • signed lower left: T Buttersworth
  • oil on canvas

Provenance

with Richard Green, London

Condition

STRUCTURE The canvas has been lined. PAINT SURFACE The painting appears to be in good condition. There has been some minor abrasion to the sky, in the upper section of the picture, to which there is some faintly visible discoloured minor strenghening. This is especially visible with the naked eye in the upper and centre left of the picture. There is also a small amount of very minor visible old retouching in the sales on the main ship. ULTRAVIOLET Examination under ultraviolet light confirms the strengthening in the sky and reveals a small amount of minor, scattered retouching in the water, in the lower section of the picture. FRAME Held in a gilded wooden frame.
