Condition

STRUCTURE The panel consists of one single sheet in good condition. It is very slightly bowed at the edges and is worn in the lower right edge, where it is slightly chipped. PAINT SURFACE The painting appears to be in good condition. There are two areas of minor lifting, centre right, in the sitter's neck and chest, with minor related flaking. There are early signs of flaking in the extreme lower section of the picture, though there has been no paint loss yet. The paint is otherwise in stable condition. ULTRAVIOLET Examination under ultraviolet light reveals minor strengthening in the background. FRAME Held in a carved and gilded wooden frame. The inner edge of the frame, along the lower right section, is missing.
