Sale, London, Christie's, 15 December 1992, lot 120
We are grateful to Francesca Baldassare who has confirmed the attribution to G.D. Ferretti. This does not appear to be a preparatory drawing for one of Ferretti's paintings but there are stylistic similarities with other works, see, for example, E.A. Maser, Gian Domenico Ferretti, Florence 1968, figs. 144-145.
The sheet is laid down on another sheet of paper for support which is then glued to the mount. There are quite a few nicks and small tears to the original sheet visible at the right margin where the support paper is also visible. There is slight discolouration to the paper evident near the lower half of the sheet. Overall the medium remains fresh.
