Catalogue Note

This sheet is most probably a design for a wall decoration.  Marco da Faenza is recorded as being involved in several projects in Roman palaces and he was well known for his skill in Grotesque decorations. His style was influenced by Raffaellino da Reggio (1550-1578) with whom he worked in the Vatican Logge.
