Catalogue Note

Regiomontanus compiled these tables in 1467 while working in Hungary. They provide "the longitudes of the celestial bodies in relation to the apparent daily rotation of the heavens" (DSB XI, p.350). Although Houzeau & Lancaster mention two earlier editions, in 1475 and 1485, this is in fact the first edition. Ratdolt published several works by Regiomontanus, both at his earlier Venice press and in Augsburg. Copies are often found without the final section (the two parts are listed separately by Zinner). ISTC lists over 100 copies, parts or fragments, but we have not been able to trace any auction records for this edition.
