one jar applied with a dragon coiling around the neck, the low domed cover molded with a flying bird finial, covered in a brown glaze; the second a jar molded with animals and figures in high relief  around the neck; together with: a small bowl freely painted with brown splashes (5)

Provenance

Sotheby & Co., London, 13th March 1973, lot 175.

Condition

The brown jar has a 1/4 in. rim chip and a chip to four of the dragon's claws and one of his horns. One of the dragon's horns is restored. The cover - the bird's beak is restored and a 3 in. section of the rim is restored. The jar leans to one side and rocks. The other jar has a 1 1/2 in. hair crack to the neck and a 2 in. crack on the shoulder. The figure of the dog has its head missing. The foot of the reclining figure is chipped. The object held by the standing figure is chipped. There are small chips to the applied frilled decoration. The bowl is in good condition.
