Canvas is unlined and both the front and the reverse show painted compositions. Colors are extremely bright and fresh. Canvas is slightly undulated in some areas but is otherwise taut. Surface is slightly dirty. On the front side, there is some evidence of paint shrinkage to the thicker areas of black pigment in the figure's hat, as well as in the thicker pink and yellow pigments. There are a few thin lines of stable cracking below the figure's lips, also in the thickest pigments. Under UV light: Front side: two pindots of retouching are visible along the upper edge of the canvas. Overall there are a few minor scattered hairline and pindot strokes of inpainting, mostly to the left of the figure's face. There are a few quarter-inch strokes of retouching below the figure's right shoulder. Reverse: There are a few scattered pindot retouches through the top center and top left of the composition. A 1-inch stroke of retouching fluoresces at the lower left of the canvas next to the lime green swath of paint. Overall the work is in good condition.
