Description

  • Ben Nicholson
  • Tuscan Church Portico 2
  • Signed Nicholson, dated 1965 and titled Tuscan Portico (on the verso of the sheet); signed, dated and titled Tuscan Portico 2 (on the reverse)
  • Gouache and brush and ink over etching and aquatint on paper hinged to artist's mount

  • 14 3/4 by 12 3/4 in.
  • 37.5 by 32.4 cm

Condition

The work is in very good condition. Executed on cream laid paid paper and hinged with adhesive to the artist's mount along the top edge of the verso. The sheet has been cut along the edges of the etching plate. There may be some very minor scuffs to the brown gouache and there are a couple places extremely minor spots where the surface of the artist's mount is very slightly uneven, though this may well be original to the piece.
