Condition

Relined and sufrace has been somewhat pressed as a result. there are scattered thinnesses noticeable in the music sheets, the engraving and the writing on the letters. however, overall the painting still reads well and presents a strong and decorative image. some scattered, discolored old retouches can be seen on some of the objects and in background. ultraviolet light reveals scattered retouches as mentioned. there appears to be an old repaired L-shaped tear in open music sheet at center, and another possible repaired tear at left side of engraving at top and into wood background to left of engraving. painting is presentable as is, but could be further improved with a re-addressing of some of the older, discolored retouches. In a carved and gilt wood frame with minor nicks.
