Description

  • Scagliola
  • top only: 3cm. high, 176.5cm. wide, 81cm. deep; total height: 59cm. high, 184cm. wide, 89cm. deep; 1¼in., 5ft.9¾in., 2ft.8in., 1ft.11¼in., 6ft.½in., 2ft.11¼in.
the rectangular top centred by a scrolled cartouche with a parrot on a vine, each corner with a bird on a fruiting and floral branch within strapwork cartouches with a fruit-filled wicker basket at each end, above a stylised scallopshell the whole decorated with sprays of flowers and leaves inset within a base with an egg-and- dart border on two fluted concave sided supports centred by a flowerhead applied with 'S' scrolls on scrolled feet, with the label of Antichità Firenze Finearte Antiquario........

Condition

Colours of the scagliola top slightly darker and more attractive than on the catalogue photograph. There are some very minor chips to the edge of the top with some medium sized chips to the front left corner and front edge of the top. There is a trade label on the reverse of the top reading Gentilini Antichita Via Tornabuoni 11R Firenze. There are some minor chips to the decoration of the base. A most attractive piece in overall very good conserved condition.
