Catalogue Note

The covers form part of an extensive service commissioned by William, 6th Duke of Devonshire (the "Bachelor Duke") from Robert Garrard in the mid 1820s, including several pairs of candelabra, entrĂ©e dishes and covers, wine coolers, coasters, and labels, with ten dish covers in sizes.  Parts of the service are still conserved at Chatsworth.
