Condition

Please note that the correct medium is oil on paper laid on canvas. There is an old shiny varnish overall. There is T-shaped retouching to a repaired tear (visible under ultra-violet light and in a raking light), approximately 5 by 7cm across the figure's left arm and down the right side of his body. There are two short surface scratches (visible in the catalogue illustration) in the middle background on the right side of the composition. Apart from some darkening to the overall look of the work over time due to varnishing and being laid down, the paint surface appears to be in good condition. This lot is sold unframed.
