Overall in good condition and presentation. Visible repaired fingers to the righ hand with traces of overpaint. Visible filling to the tip of toes of right feet. Traces of dirt to surface.

Catalogue Note
Aimé Millet expose son Ariane en marbre au Salon de 1857. Le succès est immédiat et lui vaut une médaille d'or. Acquis par l'Etat, le groupe fait partie de l'Exposition Universelle en1867. L'engouement autour de l'oeuvre est tel que Millet en exécute plusieurs versions, comme en témoigne le peintre Dumesnil dans ses Souvenirs intimes : "En 1869, Millet eut à faire une nouvelle répétition de l'Ariane, en marbre demi-grandeur. Je la note parce que c'est la quatrième fois qu'elle lui est demandée, ce qui confirme le succès de la statue". La première version en marbre se trouve aujourd'hui à l'Hôtel des Invalides (Inv. no RF 50).
