Description

  • Ink, Gouache & Gold on Paper
Arabic manuscript on buff paper, 305 leaves plus 1 flyleaf, 15 lines to the page, written in naskh script in black ink, verses separated by gold roundels embellished with blue and red dots, illuminated surah headings in white on gold-ground cartouches with floral decoration, polychrome floral marginal illuminations, opening double page illuminated frontispiece, decorated with blue, red and gold interlacing foliate motifs, text within cloudbands against a gold ground punched with cintimani motifs, illuminated colophon, morocco binding with gilt-stamped central medallions, with flap, leather case with metal-thread decoration

Condition

In good overall condition, binding repaired, occasional stains but generally pages clean and ink strong, illumination bright, as viewed.
