Cette très rare herminette était réservée à l'usage exclusif des chefs. Brandie lors des cérémonies dans un geste symbolisant l'extension de leur territoire, elle constitue la version élaborée de la traditionnelle hache de guerre Tshokwe (Jordan, 1998 : n° 41 et 42). Tandis que le dos est sculpté d'un personnage en pied, l'extrémité rectangulaire habituellement ornée de motifs gravés, est sculptée ici en forme de tête humaine, que la coiffe majestueuse identifie à un chef - la lame élégamment gravée jaillissant de la bouche.
