his head lifted and turned slightly to the right, with parted lips and thick wavy hair falling over the temples, the neck worked for insertion into a statue.

Condition

Fragmentary as shown, extensive fire damage has turned certain areas, such as proper right side of face and most of nose, into a kind of chalky limestone, entire head including neck is riddled with deep cracks and reinforced in back with metal tenons, some areas underneath neck, where crystals are flaking off extensively, appear to be suffering from serious salt damage as well, back was carved flat in antiquity and with a central recess in which are remains of an iron pin fastened with lead.
