The shades are all in very good condition, with no significant visible condition issues. The hand-wrought copper surfaces throughout on the lanterns and original ceiling plate show light surface wear, surface soiling, minor discoloration and some occasional minute paint drips consistent with age and use. One of the lantern canopies with traces of transparent light green surface oxidation. A few of the rims on the canopies, as well as the lantern battens, with some minor irregular bending. The chandelier retains its original wrought-iron chains and hand-hammered copper square ceiling plate. The chains with minor surface wear and rubbing to the patina consistent with age and use. All four internal sockets appear original and undisturbed. A square modern oak mounting plate has been attached above the copper ceiling plate to successfully mount the chandelier to a ceiling. With replaced ceiling plate screws that have been patinated to match the copper ceiling plate. (Please feel welcome to contact the department for additional photos of the ceiling plate and mounting system.) Please note that when illuminated, the glass shades present in a warmer yellow tone than illustrated in the catalogue which is slightly over saturated. The chandelier displays very elegant proportions when installed and has great visual presence. The patinated copper surfaces display an exceptionally deep and rich russet brown patina with vigorous hand hammering.
