Autograph letter in German signed ("J.Brahms"), 3 pages (7 x 4 1/2 in.; 178 x 115 mm), no place or date, to a close friend. Light blue half-morocco drop-box, gilt-stamped title on spine.

Catalogue Note

A jocular letter in which Brahms debates which work to select in F or B flat major and explaining his difficulties in his decision, referring to the recipient's third "Chorband" and "his Ludwig."

Brahms here discusses a technical matter in flowery and amusing language referring to bundles of hay and harvests. The letter is written in the "Du" form, seldom used by Brahms, indicating a close, but unnamed friend.
