Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the overall tonality is creamier and less white in the original work. Condition: This work is in very good condition. There are scattered handling marks to the wooden backing board. As is visible in the catalogue illustration there are several spots of wear and paint / media losses to the outer edges of the front-most papier mache relief, most notably in places to the upper left corner, to the right section of the top edge, to the lower section of the left edge and in several places to the bottom edge and corners. Some of these have associated small cracks and isolated lifting. There are scattered fine rub marks in places to the front surface and as well as in places around the edges. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals several spots of retouches mainly along the extreme right and lower edges. Some retouches in the lower left corner and retouches at the inner corners throughout.
