Description

rounded rectangular form, the aperture within green translucent enamel on an engine-turned chevron ground, the white enamel striped border wrapped with vari-coloured gold flower sprays, ivory back, silver-gilt scroll strut, struck with workmaster's initials and Fabergé in Cyrillic, 56 and 88 standards, scratched inventory number 59808

Provenance

This object was a joint purchase by the Emperor Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, the Emperor billed on 11 August 1898 for half the total purchase price of 225 roubles.

Condition

Excellent condition. The ivory back with cracks at the corner screws, two repaired.
