Condition

Relined and surface has been pressed as a result, with canvas weave pattern noticeable throughout, though this is not too distracting. there is some abrading of the paint surface in the top of the marble vase, the edge of the table in foreground, and in the brown background. despite this, the composition still reads very well and presents a very attractive image. under UV: there is an opaque varnish; some retouches can be seen at top part of marble vase; a few reinforcements on lute, some retouching on pages of book, and to the handle of the violin. other retouches scattered in foreground and some very small ones in upper background. In an elaborately carved and gilt wood frame with minor nicks and losses to the gilding.
