Catalogue Note

A la beauté de cette canne cérémonielle répond l'importance de l'emblème - insigne du pouvoir temporel et spirituel. Il est signifié à la fois par l'ivoire du pommeau, par la bague en bronze avec grelots et par la richesse de l'iconographie, associant signes du pouvoir (sièges circulaires) et personnages féminins - aux deux extrémités de la hampe, chacun regardant dans une direction opposée. Grande délicatesse des modelés, mettant en valeur la tension des courbes et les rondeurs caractéristiques de l'art rare et méconnu des Attié. Très belle patine d'usage, sur l'ivoire et le bois.
