Description

Designed as a series of woven ribbon motifs decorated with blue guilloché enamel, set with five oval glazed compartments with four miniatures on ivory depicting members of the House of Orléans, Prince Louis Charles Philippe Raphäel of Orléans, Duke of Nemours (1814 -1896), Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1822 -1857), Prince Henri Eugène Philippe of Orléans, Duke of Aumale (1822 -1897) and Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon-Two Sicilies (1822 -1869), inner circumference approximately 165mm, all signed 'M' (two on the left and two on the right), miniature length approximately 22mm each, tooled fitted case, embossed with the initials A.G.

Condition

Metal tested as gold. One glazed compartment without a miniature portrait. Minor scratches to glass otherwise, very well preserved and in very good condition.

Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Duchess of Nemours (1822 -1857), the only daughter of Duke Ferdinand of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, married in 1840 to Prince Louis Charles Philippe Raphäel of Orléans, Duke of Nemour

Prince Henri Eugène Philippe of Orléans, Duke of Aumale (1822-1897), the 5th son of King Louis Philippe, married in 1844 to Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon-Two Sicilies.

Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon-Two Sicilies (1822 -1869), the daughter of Prince Leopold of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, Prince of Salerno and Archduchess Maria Clementina of Austria, married in 1844 to Prince Henri Eugène Philippe of Orléans, Duke of Aumale.

A similar bangle also exists depicting five miniature portraits of François, Prince of Joinville (1818-1900); his wife Françoise, Princess of Joinville (1824-1898); Victoria, Duchess of Nemours (1822-1857); and her spouse Louis (1814-1896) and Louise, Queen of Belgium (1812-1850).
