Literature

P.-J. Redouté and C.-A. Thory, Les Roses, Paris 1817-24, vol. III, pp. 105-106, engraved by Langlois

Condition

Laid down on mount. The sheet was framed, and possibly kept in an unstable condition, so the vellum has wrinkled somewhat and partly detached from the mount. There is a small horizontal tear just below the top of the right edge. Some slight surface dirt in this area also. The watercolour is, however, still strong and fresh.
