Description

  • A YELLOW GOLD QUARTER REPEATING OPEN-FACED WATCHCIRCA 1800 NO 1899 SOLD IN 1806 TO THE DUKE OF NEWCASTLE
  • diameter 47 mm
• gilt movement, underslung ruby cylinder, plain brass three arm balance, bi-metallic compensation balance, parachute protection curb, repeating on two blued steel gongs • signed and numbered cuvette • enamel dial, gilt Arabic numerals, secret signature under 12 o'clock • plain polished case numbered 2533 and stamped initials by Tavernier and stamped B1899 • dial and cuvette signed

Condition

The movement is not running but the balance does swing freely, the watch is repeating correctly. There are a couple of small chips to the enamel dial at 1 and 6 o'clock and there is a minor scratch at 9. The case has light scuffs throughout but overall is in good condition. Dial and cuvette numbered 1899, inside case back numbered 1899 2533.
