Condition

Overall in very good condition. There are approximately 35-40 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout the shade. The shade leading is beautifully rendered with refined lines, displaying a rich russet brown and green patina. The base also displays an exceptionally rich russet brown and green patina, with some light surface scratches, abrasions, and light rubbing to the patina around the perimeter of the cushion consistent with age and gentle use. There are a few very minor and shallow bruises to the outermost perimeter of the cushion base (really only noticeable when running your hands around the base). With period sockets and switches, all of which appear undisturbed. With a fine period "pig tail" finial, which fits very snuggly to the top shade aperture and displays a consistently rich russet brown patina to the base. The finial with one small shallow bruise to the outermost perimeter edge (approximately 3/4 inch wide) with a small associated patina loss, a few additional shallow indentations (barely noticeable), and with some minor wear to the patina at the bent contours of the pig tail. A superb example of the model displaying an exceptionally striking and unusual glass selection. The colors in the catalogue illustrations are slightly over saturated and dense. The reds and greens in the floral register show far greater color variation and subtleties, and the background glass is articulated in translucent yellow and amber "confetti" glass. The top geometric register is less red than in the catalogue illustrations, with vigorously striated glass displaying a superb transition from a deep fiery orange to a subtle lime green.
