Catalogue Note

Richard Mille began working in the watch industry in 1974, however it was not until 2001 that he released the first watch from his own company. Since that time, he has become one of the greatest innovators in terms of technical development, cutting-edge materials and futuristic style.

Inspired by the advanced engineering found in the Formula-1 racing circuit, Richard Mille creates his innovative and performance-oriented wristwatches using non-traditional materials, such as ceramics, new metallic alloys and carbon fibre compounds. The company does not produce watches with standard metal parts, as many of the gears and pieces that make up the movement are custom-made for individual models.

After RM 005 in 2006 and RM 011 in 2007, Richard Mille launched RM004 in 2009. This model features an impressive range of technical innovations including pillar-plates made of carbon nanofibres in order to increase the movement stability, wheel synchronisation to optimize chronometer function with 2 special pushers at 8 and 10 o'clock, minimization of the jump of the chronograph-hand by making lever and gear-train in titanium, as well as the function indicators.
