Catalogue Note

The Piaget Emperador at 3.2mm is the world's thinnest shaped flying tourbillon. The beautiful cantilevered tourbillon construction, is considered to be the most difficult variation of this complication.

The tourbillon device was invented in 1801 and is one of the most ingenious mechanisms invented by horologists. It comprises of a mobile carriage which houses the escapement, this makes one revolution per minute and thus eliminating the errors which occur when the movement is in a vertical position.
