Description

  • pearls, emeralds, diamonds and gold and enamel
Designed as a wide band of step-cut emeralds alternating with circular- cut and rose diamonds within black enamel lines and Greek key motifs, clusters centring on a button pearl within a surround of circular-cut diamonds, to a similarly set fetter link chain connection, inner circumference approximately 164mm, French assay and maker's marks.

Provenance

The grandmother of the present owner, the Countess Idina Masciadri Orsini is seen (right) wearing the bracelet at the entrance of La Scala, the world renowned opera house in Milan, in 1957.

Condition

Stamped with French assay marks to tongue for 18 carat gold. Small losses to black enamel. Emeralds a light to medium yellowish green to green, typical inclusions visible to the naked eye and with magnification, abraded facet junctions, nicks, cavities and some surface reaching fractures. Estimated total diamond weight approximately 3.80 - 4.00 carats, of mixed colours and clarities, one small rose diamond deficient. Verbal on samples of pearls, test as natural saltwater, medium lustre. Well articulated. Heavy bangle weighing approximately 108.8 grams. Safety chain, secure clasp, in good condition.
