Description

  • wood
each rectangular upholstered backrest within a beaded molded frame, the stiles surmounted by square finials and flanked by a pair of upholstered armrests with scrolled terminals on cabriole supports above a loose cushion seat above beaded molded aprons and raised on fluted circular tapering legs headed by flowerhead patera and ending in melon-form feet.  Together with four silk and needlework throw cushions.

Condition

Reduced in length, originally settees; overall good condition; each with numerous chips, losses, and wear to the gilding; possibly originally painted; each with extensive areas of old worm damage throughout; however, back legs slightly loose; touching in to gilding of apron of one; some areas of overgilding, namely to legs, possibly to stiles; the underside of the front rail and back rail each with a tennon, probably where a third leg was joined.
