Catalogue Note

This lot is accompanied by copies of documentation and correspondence, between Galerie Denise René and the original buyer, Willy Boesiger, which show that it was commissioned in 1952 and delivered to the client in 1953.

The exhibition catalogue (p. 41) shows that two examples of this design were commissioned by Denise René and made by Tabard at Aubusson between 1952 and 1953. It is possible that the current lot is one of these works, however the listing details the two works produced as having slightly different dimensions (200 by 250cm.) to the current lot. Furthermore, the title 'Bogata' woven into the current lot is not detailed in the text. Copies of the documentation is available upon request.
