the frieze centred by an oval blue john tablet; replacement shelf, centre tablet inlay a later addition, new plinths

Condition

The catalogue illustration is slightly too white in appearance. The marble has a very slightly greyer tone. Overall in a very nice condition, although the Blue John oval is later as stated, as is the shelf. There is a nice old 'skin' to the marble. Some minor chips and small infilled chips consistent with age and use. There is a small loss of reeded moulding to top right corner of aperture, not apparent in photo.
