Description

circulaire sur trois petit pieds, le pourtour décoré en incrustations de nacre, cornaline, agate, malachite, bois et corne teintée, de branches de pivoines et pruniers en fleurs

Condition

The brushpot is overall in good condition with the exception of a hairline age crack (possibly secured) running across inside the brushpot from one side of the rim to the other (the line runs down from the mouth rim along the walls inside and across the base of the pot, going through beneath the brushpot but not on the sides) ; another hairline crack (6.5cm) inside extending on the rim ; a few light scratches to the surface outside ; the inlays are in good condition ; there is a sticker mark inside with traces of old glue.

An inscribed embellished zitan brushpot was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 29 October 2001, lot 534
