Catalogue Note

Skelton was a frequent visitor to Croydon where his main patron Archbishop William Herring lived. Other views of Croydon and the Palace, dating to 1754 and 1755, are in the Croydon Public Library. His works are rarely to be found on the market and in particular in such fine condition as the present work.
