Catalogue Note

This model was commonly made by Ratzersdorfer, such as the marked example sold Sotheby's, New York, 21 October 2009, lot 32.  An example of the ewer, descended in an English noble collection with a large group of marked Ratzersdorfer rock-crystal pieces, was similarly without maker's mark (see Christie's, London, 25 November 2008, lot 83 in the sequence lots 58 to 84).
