coperchio incernierato, bordi a tarsia; piccole mancanze

Condition

The cover: with a later date metal handle; a chip on the left front corner; a loss of material of the inlaid below the central shield. The body: with the pastiglia frames and base with extensive losses. The ivory figures with extensive cracks, holes and minor losses. Extensive losses of the pastiglia decoration, filling the joints of the ivory panels. Cracks and chips throughout.

La bottega degli Embriachi fu fondata a Venezia da Baldassarre all'inizio del secolo XV, specializzandosi nella produzione di oggetti in osso con cornici a tarsia. Per alcuni esempi di questo tipo vedi E. Berger, Prunk-Cassetten, Meisterwerke aus der Hans Schell Collection, Graz, 1998, n. 39 e 40.
