Description

  • Thomas Heeremans
  • a river landscape with figures unloading their boats beside a busy village
  • signed lower right: THmans (TH in compendium)
  • oil on canvas

Provenance

H.W. Mansfield (according to an old label on the reverse).

Condition

The canvas has a relining which had somewhat flattened the paint surface. The paint surface is secure if abraded in certain passeages. The dirty varnish impedes satisfactory inspection under UV light, but certain passages have been retouched, particularly in the sky. Offered in a carved and gilt wood frame with some knocks.
