With Caretto Gallery, Turin, 1986 as "Gaspar de Crayer".
Condition
The canvas has a recent relining which has somewhat flattened the paint surface, which is secure and clean.
Inspection under UV light reveals scattered retouching work most notably along the left edge and in the ground which Christ is standing on.
Offered in a composite gilt frame with some minor knocks.

The figure of the Saviour in the present painting can be compared stylistically with the infant Christ in de Crayer's altarpiece of The Miracle of Lactation in the Musée Royal des Beaux-Arts, Antwerp, inv. no. 829 (see H. Vlieghe, Gaspar de Crayer, sa vie et ses oeuvres, Brussels 1972, vol. I, p. 231, cat. no. A210, reproduced vol. II, fig. 195).
