PEARL, RUBY AND DIAMOND BROOCH/PENDANT, LATE 19TH CENTURY

Description

Centring on a baroque pearl, framed by a floral and foliate garland surmounted by a pair of doves, set with cabochon and circular-cut rubies and rose-cut diamonds, suspending a pearl drop, detachable brooch fitting, hinged bail.

Accompanied by a report from The Gem & Pearl Laboratory, no.02217 stating that the pearl was found to be natural saltwater. Large pearl has been drilled to reverse on left hand side and then capped with mother-of-pearl, not visible from the front. Diamonds bright and lively. Rubies a medium slightly purplish/pinkish red, typical inclusions visible with magnification. Reverse of doves chased with feather engraving. Together with a safety chain. In very good condition.
