Condition

Work is in good condition. The panel is stable and attached to a stretcher. There are some cracks inherent to the panel, particularly along the top edge, some of which extend down to the figure's forehead. There is a quarter inch loss to the surface at bottom right corner. Minor surface dirt, especially in the impasto in the balls on the figure's collar. Under UV light: several strokes of inpainting on the cheeks and around the figure's left eye; several strokes of inpainting in the darker pigments of the blue bow; a few minor strokes in the collar and on the balls on the collar and in the upper right quadrant. A few of the white pigments in the figure's blouse fluoresce and appear to be either the artist's own reworking or an earlier retouching.
