Relined. under an extremely dirty and discolored old varnish. the paint surface is generally well retained, though a bit pressed. scattered discolored old retouches are visible to naked eye in the flesh areas and in Mars' shoulder. there is a loss to the canvas at the upper left corner. ultraviolet light reveals retouches to her right hand and arm, his thigh, some in clouds at right, his shoulder as mentioned and his hair. this painting hasn't been attended to in a long time and would benefit from a light cleaning and senstive restoration. In an elaborately carved and gilt wood frame with shell pattern all around; some minor nicks.
