Description

Old European-cut, rose-cut and single-cut diamonds weighing approximately .80 carat, manual movement, dial signed Cartier, French assay marks, length 6 1/2 inches.  With signed box.

Condition

Good condition. There are two small holes along the sides of the case where the pins are deficient, but the case is firmly in place. Currently running, movement is newer than the watch and therefore likely a later replacement. The synthetic sapphire-set crown also appears to be a modern addition. Inner caseback signed HNC probably for Haas Neveux and numbered 84794, partial maker's mark, swiss, 17 jewels. French assay mark and partial French maker's mark to the clasp. As only the dial is signed Cartier, we are not guaranteeing the piece in its entirety as a work by Cartier. The light gray pearls bear varying degrees of purple and blue-green overtones; good luster. The triangular-cut sapphires are possibly synthetic, as typical of the period. The old European- and single-cut diamonds are approximately H-J color, VS-SI clarity; the rose-cut diamonds are decorative in quality. Mounted in platinum, with the exception of the clasp, which is yellow gold. The signed Cartier box shows moderate wear and discoloration to the leather and cream-colored silk and velvet interior. The box is probably not original to the piece and appears to be of more modern manufacture.
