Description

  • Seaman Schepps
Comprising a necklace, a bracelet, a pair of clip-brooches, two pairs of earrings and a ring, the necklace strung with 39 turquoise beads graduating from approximately 16.5 to 8.6 mm., spaced by rock crystal rondelles, one rondelle missing; the remaining items decorated with numerous round, oval and fancy-shaped turquoises and set with round and single-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 8.25 carats, mounted in platinum, necklace and bracelet lengths 20 and 8½ inches, ring size 7¾, necklace is unsigned, all other pieces signed Seaman Schepps.

Condition

All pieces in good condition with gentle wear to the mountings. All pieces signed with exception of necklace. Turquoise is generally lighter and slightly more greenish in coloration than indicated by the catalogue illustration; many with visible matrix. Diamonds are approximately G-H-I color, VS-SI clarity unless otherwise noted. NECKLACE: As noted, one of the rock crystal rondelles is missing, otherwise in good condition. The strand isn't knotted; re-stringing for security is recommended. Clasp mounted in white gold. BRACELET: Signed on applied plaque to second flowerhead from female end of clasp. Spot of gold solder to reverse of one link. BROOCHES: Both signed on applied plaques. RING: Signed on shank interior. EARCLIPS: both pairs signed on applied plaques and with screw-back closures.

Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Illustrations in the catalogue may not be actual size. Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
