Description

Provenance

Collection of Alfred E. Mirsky (1900-1974).
Christie's New York, 29th March 2006, lot 350.

Condition

The vessel is in overall good condition. It has small areas of reddish, brown and malachite green encrustation to the base, legs and spout and there are traces of earth to the interior. One of the two mushroom-cap finials was broken off in the past and has been re-attached. UV-light reveals some fluorescent areas, suggesting a small restored area (ca. 1 1/2 x1 in., 4x2.5cm) to the left of the handle (also visible on the inside), and a partially restored 2 3/4 x 1/2 in., 7 x1.5 cm area on one side of the spout extending towards to tip.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion.
