Half-titles in each, 101 plates of which 95 are hand-colored, by Annedouche, Schmelz, Remond, Fournier and others after Prevost, Wener, Oudart, Meunier and others; some mostly marginal foxing in text and plates. Contemporary (plate volume) and modern (text volume) red three-quarter morocco and marbled boards; edges and corners of plate volume rubbed, upper joint cracking.

The zoological volumes were edited by Joseph Fortuné Theodore Eydoux and François Louis Auguste Souleyet, and the ornithological text was written by Henri Marie Ducrotay de Blainville.
